Sumilon Island

Went to Sumilon for a free trip to and checked out what the island could offer. It was nice because there were many activities and we took  the liberty to try out a number of things. The Sumilon Island escapade was really great because it was FREE! haha. I’m a cheapskate at heart and when situations like these arise, I do my best to join in.

Even if the weather wasn’t good, we still had fun.

Just got back from a trip, and I got in FREE!  I didn’t have to shell out anything for that event. Was so glad to get that much-needed break from stress at work. I needed to be with the waves and the sand, minus the sun. Although the weather didn’t cooperate, I’m just glad that somehow, the waves did.

There’s something about being at the beach that makes me remember good old days of being carefree. Like a child leaving all worries behind, leaving all problems for grown-ups to bother; keeping things light and breezy, as if everyday were summer. All the time when looking at this picture, I hear Sting’s Fields of Gold playing at the background.

You’ll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You’ll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold

Enjoying the waves at Sumilon Island.
In my past life, I think I was a fish.

CamSur adventure in pictures

Come South, CamSur!
Had a blast at Camarines Sur between June 12-16, 2009! I can’t really describe how great the experience was, I’ll just post a few of the pictures here. Yeah, these are just a few out of a thousand shots, I believe. hehe.

Going there.
Went to Manila and then stayed a couple of hours there to prepare for our 8-hour bus trip to Naga. From Naga, we went to the Sabang Port and then finally got to the Caramoan Port so we could stay at the Villa Juliana Inn.

Island Hopping on the first day
Dropped by Matukad Island and also Lahos Island. The beach again, Nice to see good rock formations.

Visiting the Church and the town
Dropped by their 16th Century Church the next day and just took some more pictures. When we travelled, I usually stayed at the top of the tryke because I wanted to feel like I was part of the boondocks.

Island Hopping 2nd Day
Manlawi, Cotivas and Sabitang-Laya
2nd day to island hop, the islands were a lot far from the previous day. Saw some remnants of the Survivor Bulgaria challenges and dropped by the a sandbar that didn’t arise until after 30 minutes. Had great lunch prepared by our tour guide and had more pictures taken in the process.

CamSur Watersports Complex!
This is where I really had a blast. The CWC wakeboarding activities and the obstacle course at Lago del Rey. Something new to do and muscle pains were abound afterwards. It took  me 4 days to recover but the experience was really worth it. I’d like to go back here again if budget permits.

Foodtrip!
Got back to Manila to prepare for our flight back to Cebu. But before anything else, I had to drop by Chocolat in Mall of Asia where I tasted one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever eaten.

Everything was a blast, dunno when I’ll be able to have this kind of retreat again.

With so many people walking, how can one leave a lasting print?
The sand can just wash it away, how do you make it permanent?

Sometime last year, when I went to Siargao, I had a picture shot with my lower body and the sand as if I were walking away. There’s something about not looking in front of the camera and just turning back and walking away that makes me want to get that good shot. I have here my friend Doi to thank for this picture. This was taken in one of the Caramoan islands in CamSur.

Walking away, is it the solution?
Do we have to turn our backs to get that sweet escape?

Till I will be off to some other island to have some much needed sun to overwhelm me since I haven’t really gone to the beach this summer as much as I planned. Anyway, I hope everything will push through despite having a tight budget. I want to get a good vacation over the weekend and I just want to let loose. We’ll see what will happen as right now, I’m searching for some good information from different bloggers who have gone to the place. It will provide me some useful tips on what to do when we get there. Wish us luck as I can’t seem to wait anymore.
