my uncle, the businessman

My aunt and uncle visited us for awhile. We had the usual chitchat happened on what’s going on with our lives by giving some quick updates over dinner. The topic would revolve around family and business. With that in line, it makes me wonder what I have accomplished in life already. I’m 21 years old, yet I feel that I haven’t achieved much.
My uncle is one of the few relatives that I know who are good when it comes to numbers and business. He is where he is because of hard work, wit and guts. Aside from him, my pop’s the other person I wish I could get their brain and exchange it with mine. Anyway, since we’re this topic is about my uncle’s visit, I’m going to discuss some of the things he said; because I was lucky (sarcasm inserted) enough to sit opposite to him on the table.
He told me that one should be fearless when implementing change, one shouldn’t yield to small opinions and be firm if you really want to move the system. Be confident with what you do and show no sign of weakness in order to revolutionize.
He advised me to study Economics in order to broaden my perspective when it comes to commerce. You can always compare if a certain venture is worth it or not by putting it side by side with what the banks usually offer since that is the standard measure of comparison.
My uncle worked his way through college, or as a matter of fact, life to attaing his goals. My father respects him which makes him all the more fit for admiration because I respect my father when it comes to decision-making. He has the experience that’s clearly shown because of the number of wrinkles on his face and the spotless strand of black in his head; evident of the wisdom he’s acquired through the years.
There’s a big difference between working hard and working smart. I plan to do both, but I’m having a bit of a difficulty pursuing the latter. You may be all too hardworking but you’re still stuck to where you are without moving anywhere. Whereas if you know how to navigate to climb that corporate ladder, then that’s where you should rely and work on.
The dinner talk had me thinking. I still don’t know what I want in life. That’s the difficulty I’m having; I know I can do the job that’s tasked of me, the only problem is how BADLY I want it.
